In the Armbrustschützenzelt (crossbow tent) you can enjoy a fresh Paulaner beer in a traditional Bavarian style. Every evening the band “Platzl Oktoberfestkapelle” is on stage and makes the “Wiesn”- hearts beat faster.
There are 5830 seats in the tent where the crowd stays while swaying and singing along. If you need to tahe a breath, the best place to do so is on one of the quieter outdoor courts or you can marvel at the 30-metre-long shooting ranges and the arts of the competition participants in the adjoining annex. Because the tent has it’s name by chance: The main attraction during every Wiesn season is the German Crossbow Championships.
In addition to all the tradition, there’s also something for the heart: the host family Inselkammer provides 200 senior citizens of Munich every year with traditional delicacies and fresh Paulaner beer for free! Isn’t that sweet? Or how Bavarians would say: “Mei is des ned liab?!
Young and old, modern and traditional all agree: the crossbow tent is “griabig” (traditional in the most cosy way).
